Out & About Competition

OUT and ABOUT COMPETITION :- Tom Keir, another established member of Moray Camera Club, has presented two trophies, one for slide entries and one for prints (unmounted). Entries cover five subjects in the section and entries must be for one section only.

This competition will be in two sections. On alternate years the competition will be for Slides or Prints. In Year 2007 / 08 it will be for Prints :-

Section A :- Five slides to be entered. One image to portray each subject. Please see the General Rules for guidance on how to mount your slides for entry to this competition.

Slide Competition Secretary is Bob Fraser.

Section B :- Five prints to be entered. They must be unmounted, with the minimum size 150mm x 100mm ( 6"x 4" ). The maximum size is 200mm x 150mm ( 8" x 6" ). All prints must be clearly labelled with The Title and your Club Membership Number on the back. Print Competition Secretary is Frank Slowey.

One image in each of the following subjects should be entered :- 1 Structures, 2 People, 3 Landscape, 4 Creatures, 5 Flora.
Prints must be unmounted and conform to the following:- Minimum Size 100x150mm (4x6ins) Maximum Size 150x200mm (6x8ins)
Each image will be marked out of 20 points with the points totals to count for the trophy. A certificate is awarded to the winners in each of the sections.
The winning positions of 1st, 2nd, & 3rd in each section also gain points which are taken to account when adding all qualifying points for "George Esson Trophy for Photographer of The Year". 1st = 3pts, 2nd = 2 pts and 3rd = 1 point.
The trophy will be retained for two years.

Advice to Participants :- Each entry must be clearly titled and labelled to identify the subject which it is intended to portray. Unlabelled entries may cause confusion for the judge and in previous years this has resulted in loss of points. Care should also be taken to decide if your slide or print meets with the requirements of the theme and properly portrays the subject category into which it is entered. Be advised that many judges will mark the picture low if he/she is concerned that it does not properly represent the theme. i.e. If a picture entered in the People section features people that form only a minor part of what could have been described as a landscape picture with people in it, then the judge may decide to mark it down. Please also be aware that Subject Fauna has been changed to Creatures which includes Birds, Animals, Insects, Pets, Lions, Tigers and Elephants etc etc.
