The rules which applied in year 2009/10 were as follows:s.

(1) Highland Challenge will be Competed this year by Moray CC, Banff CC, Inverness CC & Krugersdorp CC of South Africa.

(2) There are three separate sections, Digital, Print and Slide. The entries may be traditional or contemporary in style.

(3) There is a maximum entry of 15 images; these can be submitted in one single format or a combination of digital, print or slide to a maximum of 15mages. The same image may not appear in more than one section; the club submission must comprise 15 individual images. There is no restriction on theme or subject matter.

(4) The trophy will be awarded to the club with the highest aggregate score, an addition award will also be made for the best image in the competition.

(5) The following restrictions apply for submission of images based on club membership. Clubs with a membership in excess of 20 members – no member may submit more than 2 images. Clubs with a membership of more than 10 but less than 20 members – no member may submit more than 3 images.

(6) Images used in previous Highland Challenge Competitions are not permitted.

(7) Electronic images must be submitted on CD ROM. The CD submitted must be of CD-R type. Images submitted by email will not be accepted. The electronic images must be JPEG files with sRGB profile embedded. Max size 1400 Horizontal or 1050 vertical @72dpi. (This format being native format of our projector so the dimensions will ensure optimum viewing quality. Image file names:- The images must be numbered as per the entry form. Number and Section followed by the title (Max 15 character title with no spaces) e.g. (D1_titleofoimage.jpg) rather than (D2_title of image) Print club name on CD case.

(8) Prints must not exceed 50cm x 40 cm (Approx 20 x 16 Inches) including the mount. The use of mounts behind glass is not permitted in the print section. The print will be identified by a numbered spot on the reverse side of the mount on the bottom left. Prints submitted from an electronic version must be accompanied by a CD containing the images and the image file name. The images should be numbered as per the entry form, with number & 15 character Title with no spaces. e.g. (P1_print_title_of_image.jpg) (P2_print_title_of_image.jpg). Prints submitted from negatives will be photographed by Moray CC to convert to digital images for viewing during the judge’s adjudication.

(9) Slides must be 50mm x 50mm in glass mounts. The slide will be identified by a title on the bottom of the slide mount and a numbered spot on the bottom left of the viewing side of the image.

(10) Closing date for entries into the competition is 25^th January 2010
